Please be aware that not all insects are “pests”. What makes an insect a pest? The definition of a pest is any organism that competes with humans for food or shelter. That means the spiders that are invading your house and the ants you find in your pantry. But that’s not all, there are over 94,000 pests living in the United States. This includes ants, spiders, moths, mice, rats, snakes, roaches, millipedes, and even scorpions. Luckily not all of these are indigenous to Raleigh, Durham and the surrounding areas though we do have our fair share. How do these pests affect you? They may just make you shiver as they walk across the floor, affect your allergies, or they may infest your children’s favorite cereal, but they can also cause structural damage to your house in some cases.
